On the sidelines of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Algerian-Chinese bilateral cooperation in the field of defence industry, which took place at the Central Army’s Museum in the 1st Military Region last week, General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of People’s National Army (PNA) Staff, received at the headquarters of the General Staff of PNA, Mr. Jian Jiang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC) accompanied by representatives of the said company.
During this meeting, the two parties discussed joint industrial projects and ways of their diversification, while emphasizing the need to raise the level of technological transfer, the Algerian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
Established in 1979, CATIC is a large, state-owned conglomerate with import and export of aviation products and technology as its core business.
As a state authorized dealer of aviation products, CATIC exports fighters, trainers, bombers, helicopters, UAVs, transport aircrafts, general aviation aircrafts, missiles and associated airborne equipment and ground support equipment as well as various components and spare parts required to support these products. Over 1,600 Chinese-made aircrafts are now flying over the sky in more than 40 countries throughout the world. Through multinational cooperation and R&D, CATIC has invested in and developed high-performance aircrafts such as the K-8 trainer, the JF-17 fighter, etc.
CATIC has always committed itself to the enhancement of after-sale support and service capability. Its support centers in many customer countries make the in-time supply of spare-parts and services possible. Its all-weather technical support guarantees aircraft’s best operational status at all times. It also provides all-dimensional after-sale services of international standard such as maintenance, repair and flight training.
As the primary channel of China’s aviation industry for international cooperation over the past three decades, CATIC’s overseas marketing system, focusing on information collection, market survey and analysis, project development, sales and after-sale services, has cultivated a professional team, which is skillful in project management and marketing with a deep and growing understanding of domestic and international markets, trade rules, commercial law and etc.
Earlier, General Chanegriha received Mr. Major General Fan Jianjun, Director of the Technical Cooperation and Equipment Office of the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission of People’s Republic of China.
During this meeting, which was attended by Majors Generals and Generals of the General Staff of People's National Army and the Ministry of National Defence, as well as members of the Chinese delegation, the two parties held discussions on the state of military cooperation between the two countries, as well as on ways to strengthen it in the future, particularly in the field of defence industry.
